What is SAP?


SAP AG is a German based Software company providing enterprise solutions to clients. The company was formed by five former IBM Engineers, Hopp, Wellenreuther, Hector, Tschira and Plattner.

SAP ERP is one of the products developed by them under the enterprise solutions category. The first version of the SAP ERP, SAP R/1 was developed in year 1972 where, throughout the years, the company has developed improved & better versions of the product.

The SAP ERP solution has been developed covering the end to end business scenarios of corporates where, the functionality is grouped into various modules. The most commonly used modules in SAP ECC 6 are as follows.

Even though there are separate modules in SAP ERP, each module is integrated to one another. Hence, the client implementing SAP ERP, does not need an extra effort to integrate the standard SAP modules.

    When compared to Oracle, SAP has a stronger & a better Production module with a lot of functionalities. It is also an end to end integrated solution with a clear flow of information.

    SAP is also more user friendly than Oracle, in my opinion.
